Fenders

Revised by BoatUS editors in April 2012

Fabric fender covers look sharp, and they provide a softer surface against the hull. But fabric covers also pick up grease and grit that can soil or scratch the gelcoat. For better protection, hang an old bath towel over the rail, placing it between the fender and the hull. Acrylic canvas skirts with terry cloth backing and corner grommets are a good rainy weekend project.
